The RITMO Project

Saturday, June 20 at 9:00PM | Rackham Stage

Genre: Latin Music, Salsa

Experience the Latin rhythms of the RITMO Project (also known as Orquesta Ritmo), returning to A2SF this summer! Originally formed in Michigan in the ’70s by Cuban bandleader Mike Eyia, the RITMO Project specializes in Latin music and always draws a big crowd. Initially created to educate audiences about Cuban music, their first iteration featured a six-piece band and a 24-piece dance troupe! The band eventually settled into its current 8- to 10-piece orchestra format and, throughout the years, has shared the stage with a number of major artists, including Latin rockers Los Lobos and salsa great Oscar D’León. Recent accomplishments include a special tribute from the Michigan Legislature for promoting Cuban culture in the mid-Michigan area. Don’t miss their fantastically absorbing grooves!
