The official touring big band of the United States Army, the 19-member ensemble first formed in 1969 and has been performing jazz across the world to appreciative audiences ever since. Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are programmed to entertain all types of crowds with America’s greatest original art form, jazz. Their diverse repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, hot jazz vocals, and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by members of the ensemble. Recent notable performances include concerts at the Toronto Jazz Festival and the Jazz Education Network Conference, as well as an appearance on the Colbert Report. They’ve shared the stage with jazz legends like Gordon Goodwin, Bobby Shew, Ernie Watts, and the Dave Brubeck All-Star Quintet, as well as features in joint concerts with orchestras across the country.
