Indie pop duo The Army, The Navy bring their sweet, strange harmonies to Top of the Park this summer. Hailing from the shadow of Mount Tamalpais in Northern California, they carry the natural world with them wherever they go. On their debut album Fake Brave Life, Maia Ciambriello and Sasha Goldberg craft a moody meditation on risk, insecurity, and the odd courage it takes to chase a dream. Courageous, desperate, and emotionally raw, the record captures what it means to “fake” bravery long enough for it to become real. Friends since childhood who became close as songwriting students in New Orleans, Ciambriello and Goldberg now live in Los Angeles and still write side-by-side. Their intertwined lives shape music about love, loss, and identity, with atmospheric standouts like “Stars Stay Awake” and passionate anthems like “Pretty, Pink and Soft” balancing dark themes with constellations of audacious light. Their live performance at an A2SF stage is essential viewing!
