A2SF is pleased to welcome Ember & Ash, a new duo forged by Michigan songwriters Erin Zindle and Alex Holycross. Zindle’s fiddle, Holycross’ guitar, and their voices curl together like smoky ribbons, floating above the slow-burning, restless energy of their contemporary take on classic bluegrass. They bring their long respective careers to bear in this new setting, both defying genre boundaries in their own respective bands: the edgy global folk-rock of A2SF favorite the Ragbirds and the Native Howl’s innovative thrash metal-infused bluegrass, lovingly known as “Thrash Grass.” This collaboration flickers with the restless energy of new creation with music that’s fearless and gritty yet thoroughly, toe-tappingly listenable.
