Billy and Emily
Genre: Indie Folk
Longtime stalwarts of the Southeast Michigan folk music community, indie folk duo Billy and Emily have been performing across the Midwest for many years. Billy King plays the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and keyboards, while Emily Slomovits plays the classical violin, jazz and folk fiddle styles, and guitar. King has been performing since childhood and now helps run his family’s beloved Frog Holler Farm, where he co-founded its annual music festival, Holler Fest. Slomovits has performed from a young age too, playing with her father and uncle in the treasured Ann Arbor duo Gemini since the age of eight. For Billy and Emily performances, the duo blends the compelling melodies of their original songs with vibrant covers of favorites by Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and the Beatles. Don’t miss their lovely vocal harmonies, imaginative perspective, and multi-instrumental talent live at A2SF this summer.
