Timothy Monger

Genres: Indie, Baroque Pop, Folk Rock
Timothy Monger brings indie pop and homespun psych-folk to A2SF this summer! A musician and writer based in Ypsilanti, he has released four solo albums ranging in style from the lush baroque pop of his debut Summer Cherry Ghosts to the psych-folk of his eponymous fourth album, released in 2023. An enduring presence amid Southeast Michigan’s indie landscape, Monger rose to prominence in the mid-2000s as co-leader of Ann Arbor cult favorites Great Lakes Myth Society. During their career, the band released two critically acclaimed albums, toured nationally, and shared stages with artists like Patti Smith, Andrew Bird, and the Hidden Cameras. Monger later formed his own band, Timothy Monger State Park, which, in addition to backing him on stage, recorded their first EP in 2021. Concurrent to his work as a solo artist, he is also a blogger and music writer. Monger’s latest project is Last Known Address, a collection of short songs, photos, and essays commissioned by the Ann Arbor District Library to celebrate the city’s bicentennial. Join in the celebration and experience Monger’s literary chamber pop live at Top of the Park!
