Check out the eclectic music of slapslap live at A2SF! When you attend a slapslap performance, you’ll be treated to a combination you don’t see every day: two electric bassoonists (Maddy Wildman and Ezra Gans) and dual percussionists (Cameron Wilson and Tanner Tanyeri). The quartet combines their musical powers to produce a one-of-a-kind sound that exists in the space between creative improv, up-tempo dance music, post-funk, and performance art. The Detroit-based band infuses their musical performance with a sense of the theatrical, embracing technical musicianship just as much as light-hearted absurdity to create an experience that is enthralling, confounding, and totally fun. Since forming at the University of Michigan in 2018, slapslap has been serving their signature blend of performance-art-bassoon-rock to the communities of Southeast Michigan and beyond, delighting crowds with their upbeat compositions and eccentric style. They released their debut EP, slapslEP, in 2020, and followed it up with the prog-inflected dance rock of Bad Idea, Good Execution in 2023. Their performance at A2SF this summer is sure to be equally delightful and dance-inducing!
