slapslap

GENRE: Performance Art Rock
A combination you don’t see every day: two electric bassoonists and dual percussionists, unless you’re witnessing Ann Arbor quartet slapslap, of course. Bassoonists Maddy Wildman and Ezra Gans and percussionists Cameron Wilson and Tanner Tanyeri combine their musical powers to produce a one-of-a-kind sound that exists in the space between creative improv, up-tempo dance music, post-funk, and performance art. Embracing technical musicianship as much as they do light-hearted absurdity, slapslap is equal parts enthralling, confounding, and fun. The band has performed in places as diverse as coffee shops, basement shows, bars, and University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium, delighting crowds with their upbeat compositions and eccentric style. Their performance at A2SF this summer is sure to be equally delightful and dance-inducing.
