ShivShardul Percussions bring their mesmerizing music to A2SF for the first time this summer! Known as Michigan’s first and totally original Dhol-Tasha group, their goal is to preserve the lifelong musical traditions practiced in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Dhol-Tasha is the name for traditional percussion ensembles that are usually performed by large groups of people during festivals and community events. The dhol is a large drum with a deep, resonant sound, while the tasha is a smaller kettle drum. With a focus on the rhythms of synchronized drumming, Dhol-Tasha ensembles are a vital cultural expression. This tradition is rooted in Maharashtra but has spread all across the world, including right here on stage at Top of the Park!
