Jazz guitarist Max Bowen brings his dexterous style and enjoyable sound to an A2SF stage this summer! Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Bowen is an alumnus of Community High School’s award-winning jazz program. After receiving a BA in Philosophy from Lawrence University, he lived in Milwaukee and performed with the Wisconsin Area Music Industry-nominated jazz fusion group Match Stick, the hip-hop collective Ruby Yacht, and his own trio. As part of Ruby Yacht, Bowen opened for Future Islands during their 2017 North American tour. Returning to Ann Arbor that fall, he completed a Masters of Music at the University of Michigan studying under Miles Okazaki. Since re-settling in Michigan, Max has performed and/or recorded with Detroit luminaries such as trombonist Vincent Chandler, bassist Marion Hayden,and  drummer Leonard King.
