Jordan Hamilton
Genre: Avant-Garde Soul, Experimental Hip-Hop
A2SF welcomes back Michigan-based cellist and vocalist Jordan Hamilton, whose maverick sound exists somewhere between J Dilla and Bach. Weaving together classical technique, hip-hop grooves, and lyrical storytelling, he transforms his instrument into an expressive force of nature. His raw yet refined voice completes his sound, introducing yet another layer to his emotionally charged performances. Hamilton has become a fixture in the Midwest music scene, captivating audiences with his fearless experimentation, heartfelt delivery, and infusion of avant-garde soul into modern classical. His most recent album is the excellent Project Freedom, a sonic journey through experimental hip-hop, soul, R&B, and jazz. Built around the unconventional ways he applies the cello to play chords, layer melodies, and craft songs, Hamilton’s music challenges limitations and leaps across boundaries. Whether performing solo or collaborating with some of the region’s finest musicians, he brings an energy that is both soothing and electrifying. His set at Top of the Park this summer is not to be missed!
