Billy & Emily

GENRE: Folk, Acoustic
Coming up in the Southeast Michigan folk music community, indie-folk duo Billy & Emily have performed across the Midwest for many years. Their musical talents shine on over a half-dozen instruments: guitar, banjo, mandolin, and keyboards for Billy King, and classical violin, jazz and folk fiddle styles, and guitar for Emily Slomovits. Their presence in the folk scene is well-established. King has been performing since childhood and now helps run his family’s beloved Frog Holler Farm, where he co-founded its annual music festival, Holler Fest. Slomovits has been performing from a young age, too, playing with her father and uncle in the treasured Ann Arbor duo Gemini since she was only eight. For Billy & Emily performances, the two blend their melodically compelling original music with eclectic and vibrant covers of songs by Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and the Beatles, among others. Experience their beautiful vocal harmonies, thoughtful approach, and prowess on multiple instruments live at A2SF this summer.
