Armando Vega and the 313 Orchestra

Genres: Latin Music, Latin Jazz, Salsa
Sonero y Conguero Armando Vega grew up immersed in Latin music and culture in Detroit, Michigan. Beginning to sing salsa at the age of seventeen, he received early mentoring from Herman Olivera and then worked with famed Grammy nominated singer Eddie Palmieri, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and many others. Years later, Vega performed with Olivera before a crowd of 30,000 at the Cleveland Puerto Rican Festival. He has promoted his own work while touring Puerto Rico, opening for Latin greats El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, and many other prominent artists. He has also performed with Elias Lopes, one of Puerto Rico’s most influential Latin Jazz trumpeters. He has toured and headlined with Tito Puente, Jr., and recorded his own CDs produced by Latin jazz luminaries like the saxophonist Luis Disla and Grammy nominee and award winner Chino Nunez. Vega leads the 313 Orchestra at Ann Arbor Summer Fest this year for an exciting and enthusiastic live performance that’s sure to get crowds dancing and grooving to the beat!
