About Punisher: Michelle Herrmann, better known to the masses as Punisher, began her music career back when mix tapes were still popular. She is a Detroit native with over 30 years behind the turntables, synthesizers and drum machines. Michelle was drawn to music and the creative side of life from the beginning. She was fortunate to find her way into the early 90’s Detroit techno scene when the energy was awe inspiring, from that moment Punisher emerged.
As a record aficionado, her preference behind the decks is playing vinyl and her knowledge of records is vast. Her studio tracks are devoted to hardware, analog gear and spontaneous live mix downs. A strong understanding of machines and midi programming allows her to perform powerful, dance floor igniting, live PA sets that take you on a journey through hypnotic, cerebral soundscapes. Michelle released her first two records in 1997 on Detroit label Matrix and has since appeared on over 40 different releases on internationally recognized labels including Detroit Underground, Synewave, Denied Music, As.If. and her own imprints Hej Records and Seismic. While mainly focused on techno and house, Michelle has the ability to play across multiple genres from open to close. Punisher has rocked the dance floor at clubs and festivals all over the globe including the coveted Movement festival in Detroit and Where Are My Keys. She’s performed alongside world renowned acts such as Sebastian Mullaert, Marcel Dettmann, Daniel Avery, Richie Hawtin and The Orb. Michelle will continue to travel where the music takes her in pursuit of musical enlightenment. www.soundcloud.com/punisher | www.facebook.com/punisher-25925460807 | www.instagram.com/lil_pun | www.residentadvisor.net/dj/punisher | www.discogs.com/artist/6043-Punisher
About Dan Bain:
Dan Bain says that DJs just play other people’s music. His humility, however, cloaks the fact that his DJ sets sound like his own harmonious song. Vocals that ripple, keys that drip, and buoyant percussion are the standard to this Detroit native.
Bain cannot be whittled down to a genre. Having traversed the dunes of house and techno, to the crest of indie and trip-hop, he maintains a unique presence. His sense of victory comes by reaching even one person in the audience, although the majority hold on for the duration of the set. His sonic language comforts the dancer who is heartbroken, gyrates the weekend warrior, enlightens the lost, and flirts with the rest, even leaving his own heart on the dance floor.
With an ever-expanding music collection that includes his favorite 45s, Dan’s depth of knowledge hints at an insatiable quest of the universal language. On any given night, whether his message is through hip-hop, heartfelt house, or the quickened pace of techno, there is always a gentle let-down, but never a conclusion. You’ll have to return for the next chapter in the story.
